These are one-time free classes that just "pop-up" when a presenter has a topic of interest that we think the HEB Community would enjoy.

Navigating the Healthcare

System

April 9,

10 a.m. to Noon

This class is designed to help the community understand how economics is the driving force in healthcare and to arm you with actionable strategies for navigating today's healthcare landscape.
​
The presenter saw firsthand how the healthcare system works.  She wants to help individuals understand why health care is delayed, denied, or fragmented and explain what we can do to protect ourselves.
Participants will receive access to a downloadable healthcare toolkit which includes:
  1. a doctor visit preparation worksheet
  2. a list of labs and preventative screenings worth requesting
  3. guidelines on how to fight an insurance denial

How to Embrace
A Feeling of Inner Peace
Now and in the Future

HEB resident CarolLee Miles, author of Passion Purpose Promise with a Song of Peace, will share her personal roadmap to finding health, wealth, and emotional healing in a time of uncertainty about the future. The veteran of thousands of miles of travel to all seven continents, this former Ports of Call tour guide will discuss how many of those travel experiences and much tumultuous thought have led her to a deep feeling of peace inner and contentment.

Retired State Appellate Court Judge Russ Carparelli will discuss the Constitutional principles that have shaped the American legal system, providing historical context and inviting thoughtful discussion of how and why the interpretation of these principles has evolved over time and how they apply in modern American civil life.

In this era of "fake news" and dissatisfaction with the news media, this class will provide an interactive forum in which to talk about how new stories are pursued, verified, and green lit for print or broadcast publication.
