Fall 2026 Term Set To Begin

The Fall 2026 CAL Term Is Ready To Roll!

When registration closed at midnight on August 27, a total of 385 registrations had been placed.  All courses scheduled had met their minimum numbers, and seven had maxxed out and had wait-lists.  Approximately 60 to 70 people attended the August 20 Kickoff Event to hear the faciltators of the thirteen courses describe their courses.

Courses begin on Monday, September 14, and continue through Friday, October 30.  You can view the complete Course Schedule on the Fall Courses 2026 page of this website.

The CAL Leadership team thanks all those who signed up for a course for their support of this all-volunteer educational program which is such a vital part of the HEB community!

CAL PopUps Have Become Very Popular!

  • PopUp classes are classes that just pop up as topics of interest are discovered in our community.

  • They are one session only, one to two-hour free events that take place generally at the clubhouse.

  • Registration is recommended but not required.  Drop-ins are welcome on a space available basis.

  • PopUps Coordinator Darrah Yates monitors email reservations.

  • You can RSVP for a PopUp on the PopUps page in the navigation menu at the top of the PopUps page or by clicking on the register button in each PopUp description section.

Winter/Spring 2026 Facilitator Appreciation Slide Show

At the conclusion of each CAL term, facilitators are honored at luncheon which celebrates their involvement in courses offered during the term.   A slide show featuring pictures taken during their courses is offered as entertainment.  Click on the play arrow to see the latest one!

Facilitators Wanted for Future Classes!

The list of possible subjects for future courses is long.  It includes topics such as:

  • Ted Talks for seniors

  • Clubs at HEB...how to get involved

  • Fun activities to do with grandkids

  • International house exchange programs and experiences

  • Interior design ideas

  • HEB gardens worth seeing

  • Volunteer opportunities

  • Tips for travelers

  • Art History and Appreciation

  • How to paint with acrylics

  • Astronomy

  • Geology

  • Historic Denver

  • Nutrition for seniors

  • Cooking classes

  • Jewelry making

  • How to organize your camera roll

  • Cable vs streaming vs home antenna

CAL's continued success depends on residents who are willing to volunteer their time and expertise to facilitate courses.  If you would like to facilitate a course on any of these subjects (or any other subject we haven't thought of), please contact Francie Bernier, CAL's Curriculum Lead, by email at curriculumcal@calforheb.com.  If you know someone in the community who might be qualified and willing to facilitate a course, let her know that too!

In this era of "fake news" and dissatisfaction with the news media, this class will provide an interactive forum in which to talk about how new stories are pursued, verified, and green lit for print or broadcast publication.
